The Latino Leadership College Experience Camp (LLCEC)

The Latino Leadership College Experience Camp (LLCEC)

The EKU Latino Success Center hosted the Latino Leadership College Experience Camp (LLCEC) on campus July 31- August 2nd.  This camp welcomed approximately 50 high school students (rising juniors and seniors) 15-20 college students and 15-20 facilitators and support staff. Facilitators are volunteers who have been a camper themselves or are educators with college level experience.  The LLCEC is a unique experience that provides Latino/a, immigrant, refugee and ESL students with opportunities to receive intensive instruction in language, math, and sciences in a college setting, to experience college life and classroom responsibilities, and to interact with faculty and support staff.  Campers had  the opportunity to experience the college life setting by spending  8 days at UK dorms and EKU dorms.  During this this time students were exposed to career and occupational explorations and cultural exchanges. They were also given the opportunity to take the Compass Exam and provided scholarship information.
