Tau Sigma Wheat and Greet

Tau Sigma Scholarship Recipient, Marisa Hempel and Chapter President Emily Carte

Eastern Kentucky University’s Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Tau Sigma recently hosted a Wheat and Greet pizza party to welcome new transfer students to EKU.  New invitees also had an opportunity to meet with current members of the honor society. We had a great turnout with lots of good conversation.

During the Wheat and Greet, Chapter President Emily Carter presented a $1,000.00 Scholarship check from the National Tau Sigma Office to Marisa Hempel, a senior majoring in Broadcasting & Electronic Media. Congratulations Marisa! Since the chapter’s establishment in fall 2013, chapter members have been awarded over six thousand dollars.

Tau Sigma is a national honor society designed exclusively for transfer students!  Our mission is to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students."  Tau Sigma provides its members with opportunities to earn scholarships, attend leadership conferences, take leadership positions, and serve others at the university and in the community, all while developing friendships and becoming a more integral part of the university to which they transferred! Students who transfer to EKU will be invited to join Tau Sigma after their first semester at EKU if they meet the requirements for membership.
