Hosts Induction Ceremony
The Eastern Kentucky University chapter of Tau Sigma hosted its 5th Induction Ceremony on March 24th. A total of 49 new members were welcomed, bringing total membership to one hundred forty eight members. Since its inception in fall of 2013, the EKU chapter of Tau Sigma has welcomed 261 new members. New member’s families and friends joined in the celebration of their student’s success.
Tau Sigma National Honor Society is a national honor society designed exclusively for transfer students! Our mission is to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students." Tau Sigma provides its members with opportunities to earn scholarships, attend leadership conferences, take leadership positions, and serve others at the university and in the community, all while developing friendships and becoming a more integral part of the university to which they transferred! Students who transfer to EKU and earn at least 12 hours with a 3.5 GPA or higher will be invited to join Tau Sigma after their first semester at EKU if they meet the requirements. Scholarship opportunities are available for those who do join. In just 3 short years Tau Sigma’s at EKU have been awarded over $5,000.00 in scholarships from the national organization.
The EKU Tau Sigma’s have been busy this past year as they have hosted Wheat and Greets for incoming transfer students,attended chapter meetings, sponsored a food drive for the Colonel Cupboard, and participated in social events hosted such as bowling.
